**Description:**
**Role Overview:**
The APA Specialist at Vodacom will play a pivotal role in supporting compliance with IFRS and Group Policies, implementing and reviewing financial Policies and Procedures, SOX Controls, and other Internal Control Standards related to Asset accounting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and operational capabilities along with strong financial technical skills.
**Responsibilities:**
**General Ledger:**
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of fixed asset accounts.
- Timely capitalization of capital projects.
- Monitor and review daily transactions.
- Collaborate with team members to monitor asset disposals and movements.
**Supervision and Coordination:**
- Supervise Balance Sheet and sub-ledger reconciliations in MAST.
- Manage and resolve any exceptions and aged items on the reconciliations.
- Review various project-related templates, mainly on Excel.
- Review applicable SOX controls effectively.
**Reporting:**
- Analyze reported data for key trends and anomalies.
- Report monthly capital expenditure to Managers.
- Ensure timely and accurate identification and reporting of material risks and opportunities.
- Lead process enhancements and become a reporting process expert.
**Month-End Closing (MEC) Daily:**
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of operational expenditure through review of bi-monthly analysis.
- Ensure accuracy of depreciation and interest.
- Ensure additional journals and adjustments are accurately posted, including reallocation and intercompany journals.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations.
**Internal Control Environment:**
- Support implementation of a strong control environment, ensuring compliance with relevant group policies.
- Assist in implementing appropriate SOX controls, internal controls, and compliance requirements surrounding the month-end close and reporting process.
**Ideal Candidate Profile:**
**Technical/Professional Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field.
- Technology and Telco experience would be advantageous.
- Strong working knowledge of Accounting principles.
- Excellent proficiency in MS Office, especially Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
