Job Summary:
The incumbent’s responsibilities are to dispense and issue drugs and stock in accordance with the scope of practice of a Pharmacist according to the statutory regulations of the relevant Acts and GPP guidelines. In addition, controlling and monitoring the storage of medicines in the Pharmacy and the hospital and to liaise with other health professionals in a multi-disciplinary approach towards patient care. Advise on the therapeutic agents, dosages and duration of treatment through Pharmacist intervention and practicing clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship as per Group Protocols and BCA.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 or equivalent level of education.
- Pharm degree.
- Current registration with South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist.
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in a retail pharmacy or a private hospital setting.
- Computer proficiency – SAP and Unisolv.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Dispense medication according to Good Pharmacy Practice guidelines and advise patient on the use of generic medicine preparations.
- Issue drugs as per Group Standard Operating Practices.
- Charge relevant ward, check stock on hand and physically deliver or collect as per agreement with the Unit Manager.
- Responsible for full stock control function; including levels, counts, expirees, formulary, etc.
- Take charge of junior pharmacy staff members.
- Deliver a customer-focused pharmacy experience in as efficient a manner as possible.
- Identify and prevent financial risks to the organization by adhering to Company policies and procedures, for example the collection of levies and private patient cash payments on dispensing.
