**Job Description:**
As a Senior Litigation Advisor at Transnet, your primary responsibility is to manage litigation risks and provide effective legal advice and support. This role involves offering specialized legal advisory services, including legal opinions, litigation support, and guidance to Board Committees, divisions, and subsidiaries of Transnet SOC Ltd.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Litigation Management:**
- Handle a diverse range of litigation and pre-litigation matters.
- Support the business across various functions to assess and mitigate litigation risks.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of litigation management.
- Collaborate to fulfill administrative and litigation-related responsibilities.
- **Legal Advisory:**
- Provide proactive advice and counsel to internal clients to address and mitigate potential risks.
- Prepare training materials, publications, reports, or presentations related to legal matters.
- Monitor, summarize, and analyze case law, legislation, and administrative policies.
- Manage incoming legal processes and documents efficiently.
- **Documentation and Interviews:**
- Conduct witness interviews, gather, review, and analyze relevant documents.
- Draft responses to letters while providing recommendations.
- **External Counsel Management:**
- Manage external legal counsel regarding strategy, proceedings, and billing effectively.
- **Additional Tasks:**
- Undertake additional tasks and projects as required.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
- **Education:**
- LLB / B. Proc degree qualification is required.
- Must be admitted as an Attorney or Advocate.
- **Experience:**
- Minimum of 10-12 years’ post-admission experience in a legal environment, preferably in a large entity dealing with complex litigation matters.
- **Skills and Competencies:**
- Demonstrates autonomy in handling assigned cases and transactional requests.
- Trustworthiness and honesty in financial handling as per relevant regulations.
- Proactive attitude and willingness to contribute solutions across different areas.
- Excellent writing, drafting, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Legislative Certification/Registration: Admitted Attorney or Advocate with 10-12 years post Articles or Pupillage.
