**Job Description:**


Transnet is seeking a Train Crew Depot Manager responsible for effectively managing and monitoring the utilization of resources including locomotives, crew, and vehicles within the operational depot corridor. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the execution of the Integrated Train Plan (ITP), maintaining quality customer service, safe operations, and adherence to scheduled railway services.


**Key Responsibilities:**


- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), train working rules, and relevant legislation to minimize safety incidents and ensure smooth train operations.

- Provide a safe and secure work environment with hygienic facilities for employees, fostering a culture of pride and care.

- Execute and monitor the Integrated Train Plan (ITP) by ensuring the availability and reliability of resources.

- Establish and maintain a safe working environment in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and enterprise risk management standards.

- Implement manpower plans by assessing and monitoring workforce requirements based on business needs.

- Collaborate with local trade union representatives to maintain sound labor relations.

- Manage and control depot expenditure budgets to prevent cost overruns.

- Develop and mentor subordinates to enhance team performance.

- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in operational efficiencies.

- Maintain personal operating licenses within the required timeline as per Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) and Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) standards.


**Qualifications and Experience:**


- Diploma in Commerce, Logistics, Transport Management, Operations, or Safety.

- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Operations, with at least 4 years at a Supervisory (Grade G) level.

- Completion of Functional Yard Operations course or willingness to attend and pass the course.

- Certification in Incident Commander (IC) and Incident Officer (IO) duties, or readiness to attend relevant courses.

- Possession of a C1 driving license or ability to obtain one.
