**Job Description:**
As a Senior Litigation Advisor at Transnet, your primary objective is to oversee litigation risk management and deliver professional, credible legal counsel to Transnet SOC Ltd and its divisions. You will provide specialized legal advisory services, including legal opinions and litigation support to various entities within Transnet.
**Position Outputs:**
- Manage a wide spectrum of litigation and pre-litigation matters, aiding the business in assessing and mitigating associated risks.
- Maintain accurate litigation management records.
- Collaborate on administrative and litigation-related tasks.
- Provide proactive advice to internal clients to address and mitigate risks effectively.
- Develop training materials, publications, and reports on legal matters.
- Monitor and analyze case law, legislation, and administrative policies.
- Handle incoming legal processes and documents.
- Conduct witness interviews, gather and review relevant documents, and draft responses and recommendations.
- Manage external legal counsel regarding strategy, proceedings, and billing.
- Undertake additional tasks and projects as required.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
- LLB/B. Proc degree qualification is essential.
- Must be an admitted Attorney or Advocate.
- Possess 10-12 years of post-admission experience in a legal environment, preferably within a large entity dealing with complex litigation.
- Demonstrates autonomy in managing cases and transactional requests.
- Trustworthiness and integrity in financial handling as per relevant regulations.
- Demonstrates a proactive “can do” attitude and willingness to contribute beyond normal expertise.
- Strong writing, drafting, and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities.
- Legislative Certification/Registration required: Admitted Attorney or Advocate with 10-12 years post Articles or Pupillage.
